My great-great-grandfather Carolus Timmermans (Meerbeke 1812 - 1883) was married twice.
He married his first wife Henrica Maximiliana D'Hauwer (Denderwindeke 1813 - Meerbeke 1854) in 1829. Up to now I have found eight children, most of whom were born in Ninove.
With Maria Anna Van den Houte (Lieferinge 1825 - Meerbeke, date of death not yet found) whom he married in 1857 he had two children at least :
- Josephus Timmermans my great-grandfather (Meerbeke 1858 - 1921) who married Maria Elisabeth Goessens (Brussels 1862 - Meerbeke 1934) in Nederhasselt in 1883
- Polydore Joseph, born in Meerbeke 1862, who married Joanna Piret in 1890.
Six of the ten children of my great-great-grandfather died before their second birthday (five even died before their first birthday).
Life was far from easy in those days ...
