March 15 1824

On March 15 1824 my great-great-grandfather Amandus Neukermans was born in Okegem. He was the fourth of six children -  two of which died very young -  of  Adrianus (Okegem 1788 - 1860) and Anna Catherina De Doncker (Pamel 1791 - Okegem 1865).

Amandus was a miller's aid (molenaarsgast) and lived in the Rattenbergstraat, where his father had lived before him. Op September 6  1849 he married Catherina Asselman (Okegem 1823 - 1892). Amandus died very young on July 4 1857. His wife was left with five children :

- Maria Elisabeth (Okegem 1849 - 1892) was listed as a farmer (landbouwster) : she married Karel Lodewijk Cobbaert, a carpenter (timmerman) ;
- Rosalia (Okegem 1851 - 1922) was listed as a glove maker : she married Adrianus Cobbaert, a joiner (schrijnwerker) who was a brother of Karel Lodewijk ;
- Clara Cecilia (Okegem 1853 - 1854) : she died one day before her first birthday ;
- Hermilianus (Okegem 1855 - 1932) - called Kamiel - he was my great-grandfather : he married Clementia (Manse) Broeckaert. This couple has been  amply reported on in previous posts ;
- Ferdinandus (Okegem 1858 - 1939) : he married Odila Maria Broeckaert. Odila was a sister of my great-grandfather's wife Manse.

Hermilianus and Fernandus were immediate neighbours. Of all the people listed in this post, I have met one : "aunt Ida" : (Odila Maria Broeckaert was an aunt of my maternal grandfather - she died in 1945).
