Band of brothers

Richard "Dick" Winters, the Easy Company commander whose World War II exploits were made famous by the book and television miniseries "Band of Brothers," died last week in central Pennsylvania. He was 92 years old.

"Band of Brothers" is one of my all time favorite tv series. I have seen it five - six times at least and is the only tv series of which I ever bought a copy. It is a shining tribute to a real band of brothers.

Without the men in Easy company and thousands of other simple men who became heroes without wanting to, the world would have been a much grimmer place to live in.
