A reader on Paul Krugman's blog about eurocrats :
"Poor souls, having to admit that they have been wrong is also having to admit that they have been the cause of much very real suffering for millions of people.
By defending laissez faire capitalism they claim the right to, say to close a factory at the economic heart of a community for no better reason than to seek lower labour costs abroad that will benefit only shareholders, especially, stock option holding CEOs at the cost of devastating the lives of thousands of families.
This is the storey of so called free markets. The freedom to ignore and run rough-shod over the common good any other consideration in the quest for money and power.
This is the post Thatcher/Reagan legacy, corporate hegemony amidst extreme inequality.
It is immoral to it's core."
