My family tree

It has been years since I last visited an archive. Not because I am too lazy, but because my eyes no longer support a straight eight hour stretch in front of a microfiche reader.

I haven't been updating my family tree because I haven't yet decided which software I shall use eventually. I have been working on an old Aldfaer model, which is all right, but not flexible enough to really do the job I want. I think I explained that in a post on my old blog.

I have been collecting lots and lots of possibly useful raw data out of available books and periodicals and on the internet. I also have lots of data in my e-mails. Almost none of these data have been included in my tree, because I want to put them directly in the new model which I shall select eventually. There is worse news : most of these data have not been classified (except maybe by the day I found them, which is not really useful ...) and some - fortunately not too many or too critical - more or less glaring errors in my present tree have to be corrected, as  new data have come to light in recent editions of the external sources I have used abundantly.

I know, I know : I should get primary data. But I have absolutely reliable secundary data delivered by experts (however ... even experts are known to make a mistake now and again), and without these secundary data I would't have 5 % of what I have now.

Sometimes I find myself humming "Als ik ooit eens vijf minuten tijd heb ..."

Please bear with me.
