Three ancestors of mine died within two days in that year : Petrina Van der Haegen died in Denderhoutem on the 25th ; Adrianus Van der Sleyen died in Pamel on the 26th and Niclaas De Mol died in Okegem on the same day.
One wonders whether they might have known each other ; for Adrianus and Niclaas that does not seem a far fetched hypothesis. One thing is certain : they never could have imagined that some 250 years later they would have common descendants.
And let's not forget that they died during the nine years war (1688-1697) which, once again, turned into a catastrophy for our regions.
For the nine years war see : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nine_Years'_War.
