Catharina Suzanna Van Tricht (Pamel 1696 - 1775) was one of my ancestors. She was the eldest daughter of Carolus (Pamel 1696 - 1775) and Josina Van Londersele (Liedekerke 1697 - Pamel 1772) who married in Liedekerke in 1772.
Carolus was of good "pachter" stock but fell on hard times. He more than probably had to leave the Withuis which he farmed for the abbey of Ninove. Josina was of good stock too ; her father Henricus was a tax collector and had two farms.
Carolus and Josina had eight children, seven of which died young.
Jacoba lived for eight days in 1726 ; Anna Maria was born in 1728 and died when she was 18 in 1746 ; Franciscus was born in 1730 and died when he was three years old ; Joanna turned 13 (1732 - 1746) ; Judoca died when she was 10 (1734 - 1745) ; Antonia lived for three years (1738 - 1742) and Jan Baptist died when he was ten (1742 - 1745). So Carolus and Josina lost three children in two years' time : 1745 and 1746.
And in his youth, Carolus had seen six of his nine siblings die in young age.
Death was a constant companion in those days.
Catharina Suzanna married Nicolaes Sterckx (Pamel 1714 - 1803) in 1753 and they had eight children between 1754 and 1770.
